Lake Wesserunsett is a tourist and vacation destination in Madison, Maine. Since the 1600s the Kennebec Indian Tribe set up regular camp sites along the lake. Since then the spelling of Wesserunsett has seen many variations and there were even two occasions where the name of the Lake was changed completely. In 1912, Wesserunsett was adopted by the Maine State Legislature as the official name and spelling.
